Hello my loves! Valentine’s Day is fast approaching and love is all around – more than ever I feel it’s important to dedicate some time showing the ones we care about how much we appreciate them. Being at home, it has been hard being away from my friends, family and boyfriend – it has been very lonely at times and I know that there are many of us who feel the same. In this post I want to share some ways to celebrate the ones we love and ways to love yourself this Valentine’s Day.
Relax and Have Some Self-Love Time
Now in the words of RuPaul “If you don’t love yourself, how in the hell you gonna love somebody else?” – taking time for some self-love is not selfish, it’s important for your mental wellbeing. Do something that makes yourself happy – read your favourite book, blast out your favourite playlist or watch some feel good movies. Currently my favourite ways to relax would be to snuggle up and read “The Flat Share” by Beth O’Leary and have my chill playlist on in the background.
Have a Home Date
You can still make Valentine’s Day special even though we can’t do the classic romantic date night – going to a restaurant, you can create a date night at home. Dress up for a candle light, home cooked dinner – or a takeaway if you can’t cook! If you want to do something a little differently you could do a picnic date in your living room – blanket on the floor, some chocolate covered strawberries and a romantic playlist!
Zoom Love
If you’re not with your partner this lockdown, have your date night over video call! Date Call idea – you could cook a meal together over the call and enjoy it together. If you’re celebrating Galentine’s Day with your friends this year, call them for the ultimate girls night in – get dressed up, make cocktails or grab a glass of wine! One game you could play with your partner or friends is a how well do you know each other quiz – make up questions that they should know the answer to like; when did you first meet or what’s your favourite colour?
Bring the Spa Home
One of the most relaxing and romantic things I’ve done with my partner was a spa day, obviously the spas are closed but you can bring the spa home to you. Set up your bathroom and bedroom with candles, have a relaxing bath with Epsom salt and oils, treat your partner to a massage and ask your partner to give you one!
Travel around the world at home
The most romantic locations in the world are unreachable but with a little imagination you can travel there without leaving your home! If Paris is your dream destination transform your living room into the most romantic city in the world, grab your berets and wine. If you dream of being in an Italian villa you can dine on Italian food, put on some Italian instrumental music and pretend that it’s not freezing cold outside! I dream of being on a Caribbean island, I might blast out the dancehall classics and pretend I’m chilling on a Jamaican beach.
Hope you enjoyed my Valentine’s Day ideas!
Have an amazing Valentine’s Day however you are celebrating the day!
